Call for artists: 36 hours at Lewisham Arthouse

An open call for artists from/based in London to submit one (1)piece of art to be featured in an exhibition in late May to early June 2026 at Lewisham Art House. No theme, no brief, no application process. All we ask is that it fits through the door.

To submit your art, bring it to Lewisham Arthouse on the 29th, 30th, or 31st of May 2026 between 11am and 4pm*. While you are here we will:

  • Put your art on display
  • Help you write a caption
  • Collect some of your details and permissions for photography

Your work will then feature in the exhibition (29th May – 7th June) and, if you agree, will be added onto a digital exhibition going live later this summer.

WHAT’S THE EXHIBITION ABOUT?

36 hours is a community art project that aims to give everyone an equal opportunity to hang up their art. If you’re crafty and don’t see yourself as an artist, or if you have been exhibiting for a long time this exhibition is for you. We are firm believers that anyone can be an artist and deserves to have their art shown in a way they can control.

Another goal of this exhibition is to present a unique cross-section into London’s creative scene as they ‘hold a mirror up to’ current uncertain times, so we will also be creating a ‘Digital Exhibition’ which will act as our archive for the event.

THINGS TO NOTE:

  • We will not accept art that is ‘dumped’ – you must talk to the team first and go through our procedures. You may need to wait for somebody to become free if we are experiencing lots of intake at one time. Do not drop off your art outside of the times listed above. Any ‘dumped’ art will be discarded.
  • You must collect your work at the end of the exhibition. If you do not collect your art and fail to contact us before 4pm on the 9th June, it will have to be discarded. Works will be free to collect Monday 8th June & Tuesday 9th June. If you can’t come back for either of these dates, please let us know as soon as you can.
  • If we receive too many artworks we may have to turn people away. We will do the best we can to put up on our social media and website if we are full to avoid disappointment and unnecessary transport of artworks.
  • Want to sell your art? We won’t be the middle man. If you agree, we’re happy to pass your contact details onto anyone who might be interested in buying and won’t intervene any further.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Feel free to get in touch by emailing us at hello@36hours.london.

*The time used to read 10am-4pm, if you have seen it differently in other places, please note that the 11am time is correct.
